I am originally from Talladega, Alabama. I earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Special Education with an emphasis in Deaf Education from the University of Montevallo, Montevallo, Alabama Fall of 1999. My student teacher internship was at the Alabama School for the Deaf, ASD. During the 2000-2001 school year, I served as a houseparent at ASD supervising girls in grades 5- 8, working in the dormitory was a priceless experience. Moving to Clayton County Georgia I began my teaching career as an Itinerant teacher to Deaf and Hard of Hearing students in the Clayton County Public School System 2001-2002. I enjoyed working with my students in Clayton County yet missed the culture and communication through sign language in a residential school setting. In 2002, I joined the Georgia School for the Deaf family. This is my 11th year teaching at GSD, I’ve taught social studies in both the Middle School and High School departments and one year of Middle School Math. This is my first time working in the Special Needs department. I am looking forward to a excited year!
